Publication in the Journal of the Academy of Sciences of National Security follows the stages below:
Author registration and article submission
To submit a paper for publication, the corresponding author completes the registration form available on the website and enters the required information about the author or authors and the article.
The anonymised manuscript in DOCX format, the authors' information sheet, the originality and ethics declaration, and any other required documents, where applicable, must be submitted.
Register and submit the articleScientific review
After the administrative, technical and preliminary editorial checks, an article that falls within the journal's objectives and scope is sent for scientific review.
The review is normally carried out by two independent specialists through a double-anonymised procedure. Reviewers assess originality, relevance, theoretical grounding, methodology, quality of argumentation, use of sources and the scientific contribution of the paper.
Communication of the review outcome
Once the review is complete, the corresponding author is informed of one of the following decisions: acceptance; acceptance with minor revisions; revision and re-evaluation; rejection.
If revisions are requested, the author submits a revised version together with a point-by-point response to the reviewers' comments within the deadline communicated by the editorial office. If accepted, the article proceeds to editing, proofreading and preparation for publication.
Article processing fee – if applicable
If the Journal of the Academy of Sciences of National Security charges an article processing fee, the author is informed of the amount, payment method and editorial services covered. The fee may be requested only after final acceptance and under conditions published transparently on the website.
Payment does not influence scientific review, reviewer selection or the editorial decision and does not guarantee publication. If the journal does not charge fees, the author incurs no costs for registration, review, editorial processing or publication.
Article processing fee informationPublishing an article involves a formal compliance check, editorial analysis and scientific review. The process is designed to protect the quality of the journal, the independence of the decision and the author's right to fair and transparent treatment.
Manuscript submission
The author registers the article and submits the required files together with declarations concerning originality, conflicts of interest, funding, rights to included materials and the use of artificial intelligence tools.
Administrative and technical check
The editorial secretariat verifies that all documents are present, the required format is respected, the metadata are complete and the version intended for review is anonymised. Incomplete submissions are returned to the author for completion.
Preliminary editorial assessment
The editor-in-chief or designated editor assesses whether the manuscript fits the journal's profile, its relevance, apparent originality, clarity and compliance with ethical requirements. A similarity-checking tool may be used at this stage. A manuscript may be rejected editorially if it falls outside the scope, has fundamental deficiencies or fails to meet integrity standards.
Appointment of reviewers
A manuscript that passes the preliminary assessment is normally sent to two independent specialists selected on the basis of their expertise. The journal uses double-anonymised review: authors do not know the identity of reviewers, and reviewers do not know the identity of authors.
Scientific review
Reviewers examine the novelty and relevance of the contribution, theoretical foundation, methodology, quality of argumentation, use of sources, presentation of results and compliance with research ethics. Comments must be reasoned and useful for improving the paper.
Editorial decision
On the basis of the review reports, the author receives one of the following decisions: acceptance; acceptance with minor revisions; revision and re-evaluation; rejection. If the reviewers' opinions differ substantially, the editor may request a third review.
Revision by the author
The author submits the revised version and a point-by-point response to the reviewers' comments. Changes must be easy to identify, and comments that are not accepted must be addressed with reasoned explanations. Failure to submit the revision within the communicated deadline may lead to closure of the file.
Final acceptance
The final decision belongs to the editor-in-chief or designated editor and is based on fulfilment of the scientific and editorial requirements. Acceptance is communicated in writing and cannot be made conditional on payment of a fee that was not previously announced.
Editing and proofreading
The accepted paper enters the editing, typesetting and language-checking stage. The corresponding author receives the proof for correction of editorial errors. Substantial content changes are not permitted at this stage without editorial approval.
Publication and archiving
The article is published in the scheduled issue, electronically and, where applicable, in print. The received, accepted and publication dates are shown in the article. The published version is archived and any subsequent corrections are transparently linked to it.
Confidentiality and conflicts of interest
Manuscripts, review reports and editorial correspondence are confidential. Editors and reviewers may not use information received for their own benefit. Any conflict of interest must be declared before accepting a review assignment or making a decision.
Duration of the process
The duration of the review depends on the complexity of the article, the availability of specialists and the extent of the revisions required. The journal does not guarantee acceptance of the manuscript and does not promise unjustifiably short deadlines. The author is informed about the progress of the submission and may request an update if the communicated deadline has been exceeded.
Appeals and manuscript withdrawal
An appeal must clearly identify the alleged scientific or procedural error and must be submitted within a reasonable period after the decision is communicated. A request to withdraw the manuscript must be made in writing by the corresponding author, with the agreement of all co-authors. After final acceptance, withdrawal is permitted only for well-founded reasons.
